Caller ID spoofing is cheap and global. Learn the three clues to spot it.

Banks can be spoofed in seconds. Scammers borrow real call center names and display numbers that look legitimate. The caller ID is not proof of identity.

Three clues that give it away

  1. Urgent pressure to act in the next few minutes.
  2. Switching channels ("call us back on this other number").
  3. Requests for codes from SMS or banking apps.

If any of these show up, hang up and call your bank using the number from the back of your card or official website.
